Optimizing waste collection with electrified fleets: a new publication from DriVe2X project partner, ASM Terni

We are excited to share the latest publication from ASM Terni S.p.A., a key partner in the DriVe2X project, which demonstrates the advantages of electrifying waste collection fleets and implementing smart routing systems. The study, based on a real-world case in Narni, Italy, highlights the potential of electric vehicles (EVs) in municipal waste collection, focusing on how they can help reduce operational costs and significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions.
The research evaluates various levels of fleet electrification (ranging from 20% to 100%) and optimizes EV charging schedules using advanced decision-support algorithms. The findings clearly show how fleet electrification not only reduces fuel expenses but also contributes to a greener, more sustainable urban logistics system.
This study is a key example of how the DriVe2X project is advancing sustainable mobility solutions and enhancing urban sustainability through the integration of intelligent transport systems and electrified fleets. We look forward to seeing further innovations from this project that will help pave the way for greener cities.
