Urbanism Next Europe 2020
Moving ahead, to Spring 2021
As our number one priority is to ensure a safe environment for our Participants, Speakers, Sponsors and Partners, Polis Network, the Urbanism Next Center at the University of Oregon, the New Urban Mobility Alliance NUMO and the Netherlands Organisation for applied scientific research TNO, as well as the City of Rotterdam and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, have collectively decided to postpone Urbanism Next Europe to Spring 2021.
Urbanism Next Europe is a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on the big changes that are coming in Urban Mobility, and on their profound impacts on land use and real estate, public space and building design, and on all transport modes.
The platform will address challenges facing new and shared mobility services, autonomous vehicles, e-commerce, and urban deliveries, faster decarbonisation to meet the climate emergency. These innovations will modify the way we move, where and how we live, work and shop, and will inevitably also change urban form and development. They’ll bring opportunities, but also risks, and pose fundamental questions for equity, health, safety, environmental sustainability, economic development, and governance.
A lot of research and media attention has focused on the ‘technological’ aspects. But the built environment, urban governance, and several stakeholders have decisive roles to play. How should local and regional governments deliberate and act? How can professionals contribute to positive outcomes? What can we learn from existing research, and where do we need more? What can the private sector expect, and how can it partner with the public sector for the common good? How can we build the strategic vision and the integrated approach that cities need?
The Urbanism Next Europe Conference is organized by Polis, the Urbanism Next Center at the University of Oregon, TNO, and NUMO. EGVIA supports this event as a Networking Partner.
