Tuesday 15

10:30-11:45
Plenary
Auditorium I
Plenary 2 – Green Mobility and Decarbonization
With Peter Lehnert (Vice-President BMW Group) and Patrick Child (EC DG ENVI, former DG RTD) as speakers, this session, dedicated to Green Mobility and Decarbonisation, will explore the challenge related to carbon neutrality in the transport system. Among the key questions to be discussed:

  • Does electrification of transport contribute to decarbonization, and is it truly doable?
  • How to ensure appreciation and use of the mobility alternatives and solutions that lead to a greener society?
  • Why is it so important to decarbonize cities, and how can we do it?
13:15-14:30
Strategic Sessions
  • 2.1 –  Boosting the uptake of zero-emission vehicles, vessels and aircraft, renewable & low-carbon fuels and related infrastructure
    Auditorium II
Standards on CO2, air pollutant emissions, and public procurement rules will continue to be key policy drivers in our transition towards zero-emission mobility in road transport, in line with the Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy, and through the increased supply of zero-emission vehicles, it will make sustainable mobility more affordable for all. Philippe Froissard (EC DG RTD and co-chair of the 2Zero Partnership Board) and Georg List (Vice-President AVL) will discuss with the other panellists how Horizon Europe Partnership, and particularly 2Zero, can contribute to the supply of  innovative vehicle technologies.
  • 2.2 – Time to act: reaching climate-neutral cities by 2030
    Auditorium VI
Moderated by Rosalinde van der Vlies (EC DG RTD and Deputy Missions Manager), our colleague Armin Graeter (BMW Group and CCAM Chairman) will share his views on how the transport sector can support reaching climate neutrality in cities, how stakeholder involvement and co-creation can support policies (as expected in the framework of the cities mission) and how to get the private sector on board as an ally in decarbonisation, how to align innovation with policy goals, e.g. CO2-free city logistics, electrification, connected and automated vehicles…
Guess who the rapporteur will be? Karen Vancluysen from POLIS !
  • 2.3 – Innovative concepts and services for zero emission mobility of people and logistics
    Auditorium VIII
New innovative concepts and services to manage the growing demand for transport by doing more with less, using and combining transport modes smartly, sharing and using transport fleets and assets to the max, leveraging MaaS and Physical Internet concepts, and engaging with users driving behaviour to more sustainable decisions’ behaviour are needed to make the transition of assets and energies affordable and adapted to the new landscape. Herald Ruijters (DG MOVE) will discuss this with the other panellists in this session.
Looking for the rapporteur? Fernando Liesa (ALICE) will be in charge!

Plenary 4 – Policies and Economics for a Competitive Europe
Pursuing global leadership and competitiveness in Europe requires supporting industrial policy for digital and green transformation. Challenges include making the transport industry circular, internalizing environmental externalities, fostering sustainable value chains to yield significant social and environmental benefits, and moving towards Industry 5.0. Our Vice Chairman, Jean-Luc di Paola-Galloni (VALEO), will join Maria da Graça Carvalho (Member of European Parliament, ITRE Committee, Rapporteur on Partnerships) and Rosalinde van der Vlies (EC DG RTD) to discuss this topic of utmost importance.
12:45-14:00
Strategic Sessions
  • 4.1 – LCA approaches and circular economy to enhance sustainability of mobility solutions, including tendering process
    Auditorium II
Thilo Bein (Fraunhofer and EGVIAfor2Zero Vice-Chairman) and Philippe Froissard (EC DG RTD and co-chair of the 2Zero Partnership Board) will exchange in this session on the possible role of an LCA approach shared amongst the entire transport system as the basis for a coherent assessment of the environmental footprint of mobility solutions, enabling an informed decision for users and private or public purchases, including public procurement processes. Such an approach is needed to minimise the environmental footprint over the entire life cycle of each mobility solution.
  • 4.3 – Supporting a global sustainable competitiveness and industrial policy through EU public-private partnerships
    Auditorium VIII
Françoise Guaspare (IDF Mobilités and ERTRAC Vice-Chairwoman) and Julien Guerrier (EC DG RTD) will discuss how European transport R&I partnerships, by bringing private and public partners together, are strategic tools to help the EU and the Member States reach the European Green Deal and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy objectives while supporting the global competitiveness and resilience of the EU industry. The promising discussion will be guided by Sergio Barbarino (ALICE Vice-Chair).
